The C-130H is a four-engine turbo propeller high wing aircraft with a retractable landing gear.
The access to the cargo compartment is made by the rear of the aircraft (wich opens by means of a ramp) making it easier to load and unload, to transport large cargo (such as trucks), to launch cargo by parachute or by extraction, at low altitude, and also to launch paratroopers. In the hospital version the C-130H can carry up to 74 stretches, and the C-130H30 version can carry 97 wounded or sick. Its exceptional characteristics (robustness, versatile, capability range and endurance) are a guarantee that the Portuguese Air Force has the capability to carry out tactical and general transport missions, maritime surveillance, Search and Rescue operations, logistic support of the Portuguese Armed Forces and NATO, fire fighting operations, etc..
The Portuguese Air Force (FAP) has three C-130H30, which are an elongated version of the C-130H, made by introducing of two rings into its fuselage, increasing the aircraft in 4,572m and, therefore, into a bigger aircraft with a greater cargo capacity, however maintaining its general basic "performance".
The six C-130H and the C-130H-30 are operated by Squadron 501 "Bisontes" from the Montijo Air Base.

This aircraft is freeware and its distribution is for
non-commercial purposes.
